ALVIN, Texas (AP) - A former Houston-area high school teacher has been indicted in a child pornography case.

Forty-five-year-old Scott Burns was being held without bond on Wednesday. Federal prosecutors say he is a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Prosecutors say the Alvin High School teacher received and possessed child pornography from February 2012 to March 2013. School district officials say Burns’ employment ended in March after he was accused of using adult former students as the subjects of sexually suggestive photos and paintings.

Burns is charged with two counts of possessing child pornography. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Burns has an attorney.
