DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover Police say a woman was struck and killed when she tried to cross a road in early morning darkness.

It happened about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday on Leipsic Road at Plaza Drive. Officers say a 25-year-old woman was trying to cross Leipsic Road when she was hit by a car traveling eastbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the woman was dressed all in black and was not wearing any reflective clothing or carrying a flashlight.

The driver of the car has not been charged.
