PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities have resumed a search for a missing college student after receiving credible information that puts him near a Philadelphia riverbank before he disappeared.

FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver says new information developed Wednesday shows Shane Montgomery walking between the Manayunk Canal and the Schuylkill River soon after he left a nearby bar last month.

Officials say the West Chester University senior had been out with friends until about 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning and never made it home.

His family lives near Manayunk and has been active in the effort to find the 21-year-old Montgomery.

Klaver says the Philadelphia Police Department’s marine unit has been searching the river Wednesday while other investigators search the riverbank.

The search is expected to continue Thursday if necessary.
