SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego State University student has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting another student off-campus.

The district attorney’s office says 20-year-old Francisco Sousa has was released on bail Wednesday and has not yet been arraigned. It’s not clear whether he’s hired a lawyer and he could not be reached for comment.

U-T San Diego (https://bit.ly/164IJ05 ) says Sousa was arrested on campus Tuesday on suspicion of false imprisonment and forced oral copulation.

University police Capt. Josh Mays says the arrest came after a student reported that Sousa forced her to have oral sex in a bathroom stall of a house near campus over the weekend.

It’s the first arrest in 13 assaults reported to campus police this semester. It came on the same day that student activists marched on campus in protest of the university’s handling of sexual assault reports.
