EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A man who choked his girlfriend to death after they used methamphetamine was sentenced Tuesday in Eugene to life in prison.

It will be at least 25 years before 33-year-old Austin Louis Rolfe of Springfield can be considered for parole.

The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1AfpFVK) he pleaded guilty to murder in the slaying last July in Cottage Grove of 36-year-old Heaven “Angel” King of Sweet Home. Hikers found her body on a road in Umpqua National Forest.

Rolfe was arrested after he clubbed a man on the head in Springfield in a random assault. He told police “he had to kill people.”
