WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - The StarNews of Wilmington has dropped a lawsuit seeking records from an area charter school but plans to refile it in a neighboring county.

The newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1yPr8Uy ) it will refile the lawsuit against Charter Day School Inc. in Brunswick County after dropping a case it originally brought in New Hanover County.

The newspaper is seeking detailed information on how Charter Day spends taxpayer money.

Newspaper attorney Amanda Martin says the decision is to prevent more delays if Charter Day had argued the case should be in Brunswick County where the school is based.

The chairman of the school board says dismissing the original suit is vindication that the school complies with public record laws. Martin says the dismissal is in no way an admission the district has complied.
