ST. LOUIS (AP) - The president of a St. Louis-area union local has been ordered to spend a year and nine months in federal prison for embezzling nearly $41,000 in union funds.

Anthony Davis of O’Fallon, Illinois, was convicted in September in St. Louis of one count of embezzlement of labor union funds. His trial last five days.

Fifty-two-year-old Davis was president of Mail Handlers Local 314. Federal prosecutors say Davis used fake invoices to defraud the union of the money.

As part of his sentence, Davis must reimburse the union.
