BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Montana State University Police say someone has been loosening lug nuts on the wheels of vehicles in campus parking lots to the point the wheels could fall off.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://tinyurl.com/p84c7fv ) that Tuesday’s warning was the second in nine days.

University police say at least one lug nut was missing from a wheel on two vehicles Tuesday.

On Dec. 1, police said two students reported lug nuts were loose or missing from their vehicles. One said four of the five lug nuts were missing from one wheel and the fifth was loose. The student had driven on a highway before noticing the vandalism.

Police advised drivers to check their vehicles and be alert for unusual sounds or erratic handling that might indicate missing lug nuts.
