NEW YORK (AP) - A drug dealer who evaded capture after killing a man in his Manhattan apartment in 1999 has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Miguel De Los Santos was arrested last year in Raleigh, North Carolina, for running a prostitution ring.

A jury in August found him guilty of murdering Manuel Gonzalez.

The New York Times (https://nyti.ms/1zTwOes ) says evidence at trial showed that Gonzalez and four armed men went to Gonzalez’s apartment looking for information about Gonzalez’s cousin. De Los Santos believed the cousin had stolen $100,000 in cocaine from him.

Prosecutors say Gonzalez was tortured and fatally shot in front of his wife.

The other defendants all pleaded guilty.
