ST. PETER, Minn. (AP) - The newly appointed wind orchestra conductor at Gustavus Adolphus College is up for a Grammy.

James Miller shares a nomination for best contemporary classical composition with the late Minnesota composer Stephen Paulus, Eric Berlin, Richard Kelley and the UMASS Wind Ensemble for their recording of Paulus’ “Concerto For Two Trumpets and Band.”

It was on the album “Fantastique: Premieres for Trumpet and Wind Ensemble.”

Paulus died in October. Miller says he’s thrilled to share in celebrating the nomination with the Gustavus community.

The Free Press of Mankato (https://bit.ly/1wgNahR ) reports that Miller returned to Gustavus this fall after serving as director of wind studies at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst since 2009. Miller first joined the Gustavus faculty in 2008 as interim conductor of the Gustavus and Vasa Wind orchestras.
