NEW YORK (AP) - More than 65 firefighters responded to a power outage at a large housing complex in Brooklyn.

A fire department spokesman said it happened at the Spring Creek Towers complex in East New York at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The spokesman said the firefighters were there to assist any residents who may need help or were stuck in elevators. It wasn’t clear how many buildings were affected. No injuries were reported.

He said the firefighters left the scene after the situation was brought under control at about 11 p.m.

The complex, formerly known as Starrett City, contains about 46 apartment buildings which range in size from 11 to 20 stories.

A Con Ed spokesman says the utility does not supply power to the complex, which has its own power grid.
