KINGSTON, N.H. (AP) - Recovering drug addicts, family members and others have come together to stop what they call a heroin epidemic in Rockingham County.

Officials held the forum in Kingston on Wednesday night to educate the public on preventing and treating drug use.

A national survey says the percentage of New Hampshire residents who reported using heroin has gone up from a little more than 1 percent in 2005 to 3 percent in 2011.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1IE6fQv) Pam Drake said her son overdosed on heroin in September and she never suspected he was abusing drugs until it was too late. She said he got up and went to work every day and functioned, and she didn’t he was doing drugs.
