MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (AP) - A rubber-mixing plant in northwest Alabama has given notice to dozens of workers that they will be laid off.

The TimesDaily (https://bit.ly/1yDt5iV) reports that Hexpol AP, a Swedish-based firm that acquired the Robbins LLC facility in Muscle Shoals in 2012, has informed 61 workers that they will be laid off by early 2015.

Hexpol issued the notice in compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, according to the notification.

Mayor David Bradford said the plant has about 120 workers.

He said the workers who will be laid off are in the section of the plant involved in the stirring process.
