WASHINGTON (AP) - Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser has announced three days of inaugural events to install a new administration in the District of Columbia.

The schedule announced Saturday includes events January 1 through 3. Bowser will be sworn into office on Jan. 2 in a public ceremony at the Washington Convention Center.

The inaugural festivities open Jan. 1 with a “Fresh Start” 5K run and walk. On Jan. 2, Bowser will attend an interfaith service before she is sworn into office. That evening organizers are planning a “D.C. Proud” inaugural ball at the Washington Convention Center.
