FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A painted fiberglass sculpture of a bison on display in Fargo has been damaged.

WDAY-TV (https://bit.ly/1GlU2xI ) reports that the statue has been detached from the ground and left lying on one side. The colorful statue is part of a city project, and it features a prairie landscape and American-Indian motifs.

Owner Brad Wimmer says the statue was still standing Friday night. He says he saw it while he was working at his jewelry store, but his son found the damaged statue Saturday morning.

Wimmer says he hopes to learn more about the incident after police review nearby surveillance video.

Wimmer bought the statue for $8,500. He says he hopes the artist that created it is able to restore it.
