INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A popular Indianapolis microbrewery says it will limit distribution of its craft beers to central Indiana because of a restriction in state law that it will seek to change.

The Indianapolis Star and WISH-TV report Sun King Brewing announced Friday it has terminated agreements with distributors serving areas outside the Indianapolis and Bloomington markets because it’s approaching the annual cap of 30,000 barrels that Indiana places on small breweries.

Co-owner Clay Robinson estimated 300 to 400 bars, restaurants and liquor stores outside of the distribution area will no longer receive shipments of Sun King products.

Robinson, who’s also president of the Brewers Guild of Indiana, said the group will lobby the General Assembly to raise the annual limit to 60,000 barrels, which the federal government defines as a small brewery.
