BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - A Brockton man who had been charged with assaulting and robbing a woman before she was run over by a tow truck is now charged with murder.

The Brockton Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1wnSb8i) 48-year-old George Rhodes was indicted Friday on new charges of murder and armed robbery.

Rhodes has been held on $100,000 bail since pleading not guilty in September to the lesser charges.

Prosecutors say Rhodes attacked 54-year-old Sabrina McLean on Sep.t 8, minutes before police responded to reports a backing tow truck had run over a woman in a garage.

The medical examiner found McLean had numerous injuries, but her death was caused by being beaten on the head and chest.

Prosecutors said surveillance video showed McLean entering the area near the garage with a man believed to be Rhodes, and the man leaving alone.
