ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty in the 2012 Roan Mountain killing that left two people dead in the ashes of a burned garage.

The Johnson City Press reports (https://bit.ly/1xeTyb5) 23-year-old Jonathan Scott Shell pleaded guilty Friday in Carter County Criminal Court to second-degree murder in the death of Joyce Brock.

Shell is the son of Glenn Shell, whose body was found with Brock’s the morning after their deaths.

Jonathan Shell told police he was using methamphetamine and marijuana on the night of the murders. He said he had gone to buy marijuana from Brock but shot her during an argument.

Shell accused another man of killing his father, but charges were dropped against that man due to lack of physical evidence.

Shell was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
