PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Multnomah County report shows people of color, especially African Americans and Native Americans, have the worst health outcomes and face multiple inequities that affect health.

The report examined outcomes for five ethnic groups across 33 factors, including both health outcomes, as well as health behaviors, and social, economic and environmental factors that impact health.

African Americans experienced the highest number of disparities - including extremely high incidence of gonorrhea, high infant mortality and high diabetes mortality.

Multnomah County commissioners have pledged more funding to combat the conditions affecting the health of minorities. They did not specify how much money they would budget for the cause.

Health Department officials also want the county to create a public health advisory board that works with community partners and a health improvement plan.
