HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Matt Lopez scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds as Rider University edged Hartford 63-61 on Saturday night.

Anthony D’Orazio added 13 points with three assists for the Broncs (5-6). Kahlil Thomas had nine points and led the team with eight rebounds.

Rider took an early 12-5 lead on a layup by D’Orazio, and the Broncs had a 31-24 edge at the break.

Hartford opened the second period with a 13-6 run capped by a Corban Wroe 3-pointer to tie it up, 37-37. But a 3-pointer by Jimmie Taylor and a pair of layups by Junior Fortunat had the Broncs back on top 46-41 with 12:04 to play. With Rider up 63-61 and three seconds to play, Hartford’s John Carroll missed his chance at the free throw line, giving the Broncs the win.

Wroe led the Hawks (6-5) with 11 points and four rebounds. Carroll also scored 11.
