TUSTIN, Calif. (AP) - Two people were killed and a third person was critically injured in Orange County when a speeding car slammed into a brick column and caught fire during a police pursuit.

The California Highway Patrol said Sunday that the driver and one passenger perished in the burning vehicle.

City News Service says the crash early Saturday morning in North Tustin came as officers chased a Kia Sol that was going at least 90 mph.

A man in his early 20s was pulled from the burning wreck and hospitalized in critical condition.

A spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority says it appears the other two died instantly.
