LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The body of a young Long Beach woman reported missing has been found in a car submerged in a flood control channel.

Police said Sunday that the death of Ashlee Armond appears to be accidental.

Family members reported the 20-year-old woman missing Saturday after she left a friend’s house Friday night and didn’t arrive home or show up at work the next morning.

Police found her Honda Civic in the Los Cerritos Channel on Saturday night.

A dive team discovered her body in the car.

Police say it appears that she failed to stop at the end of a cul-de-sac, crossed a bike path and plunged in the channel.
