HINSDALE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old suburban Chicago girl is in critical condition after being struck by a train.

Hinsdale Police Chief Bradley Bloom says the girl was struck by a Metra train just after 7 p.m. on Saturday. The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that (https://bit.ly/1wQzRHe ) the girl was taken to Loyola University Hospital in Maywood.

Bloom says an investigation is underway.

Hinsdale is about 20 miles southwest of Chicago.
