NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - A new seaplane service is connecting southwest Florida with Key West.

Salt Island Seaplanes in Naples can ferry up to four passengers to Key West in about an hour. Driving over land between the two cities can take five hours or more.

The company is led by retired airline pilot Jon Rector, who flies a Cessna 206 amphibious plane.

Rector tells the News-Press (https://newspr.es/1z0qUdf ) that the seaplane offers passengers a different flight experience. The flights depart from Naples Municipal Airport and run from Oct. 1 through April 30 except on Wednesdays and holidays.

One-way tickets cost $210 a person.

Not many seaplane services operate in southern Florida. Rector says he knows of just four others, based in Key West and Miami.
