MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Westchester County are investigating the shooting death of a man inside a residential complex.

Mount Vernon police say a man was fatally shot around 10 p.m. Friday at the Levister Towers. The 10-story structure is part of a 5-building housing project.

Residents tell the Journal News (https://lohud.us/1vOSBzB ) that the victim was found dead in the basement, next door to a Mount Vernon police sub-precinct that opened in 2012. It wasn’t clear if the sub-precinct was staffed at the time.

The housing complex was the site of another shooting in July. A building security supervisor was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed a co-worker after the victim made comments about his weight.
