ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Metro Transit Police are trying to identify a suspect in connection with a stabbing of two men near the Rockville Metro station.

Police were called to the scene early Monday morning. Montgomery County fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says two men were injured. One of the victims was in serious condition with stab wounds.

Metro says investigators believe the incident began as a verbal altercation at a nearby coffee shop. The men then walked toward the Metro station where the conflict escalated into a physical altercation at the Ride On bus stop.

Metro has released pictures of a man possibly involved in the altercation and is asking for help in identifying him.

The identities of the victims were not released.
