AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - An Augusta man is being held without bail after allegedly assaulting his estranged wife over the weekend.

Police say 27-year-old Aaron Michael Tardiff faces a felony burglary charge along with misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, assault, possession of marijuana and violating a condition of release.

Sgt. Danny Boivin says Tardiff went to his estranged wife’s apartment just before 2 a.m. Saturday, forced his way inside, assaulted her and “made some threats to her and her new boyfriend.” The woman was not hurt.

Police say Tardiff has a criminal history.

It’s unclear whether Tardiff has an attorney.
