MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - Authorities have identified the Mandan man who died after the loader he was operating collided with a freight train.

KXMB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1su1oN4 ) the North Dakota State Patrol said Sunday that 77-year-old Glen Kuether of Mandan died Saturday. He was operating the skid steer loader on a railroad crossing around 1:45 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound BNSF Railway train about 10 miles west of Mandan.

Authorities say Kuether was pronounced dead at the scene. They say the train was powered by three locomotives and was carrying 121 loaded coal cars and all of the cars stayed on the tracks.

An engineer and a conductor on the train were not hurt.

Authorities are investigating.
