MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a Mooresville teen has died after he lost control of his moped.

Investigators tell local media outlets that 16-year-old Colt Murdock died early Saturday morning on the way to a hospital.

Authorities spent the day Saturday reconstructing the accident. They say that the South Iredell High School student was riding home when he lost control of his moped, crashed, then was hit by a car.

The crash is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed. Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday.
