MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 21-year-old man has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in a shooting incident that began with a group of men throwing items at a car.

The Shelby County district attorney’s office says Adair Dorsey is being held without bond in the Shelby County Jail.

Prosecutors say the shooting victim, 38-year-old Barbara Garner, was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by her husband on Aug. 16 when it was hit by a bottle.

Authorities say the husband stopped the car and Garner stepped out to tell a group of men to stop throwing items at the car.

One of the men fired a shot, striking Garner in the back of the head and killing her.

Online court records did not show if Dorsey had a lawyer Friday.
