PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer has ordered state office buildings to fly their flags at half-staff to honor an Arizona soldier who died from wounds suffered during an attack in Afghanistan.

Brewer ordered the tribute to Army Spc. Wyatt J. Martin of Mesa from sunrise until sunset Monday, and she encouraged individuals, businesses and other organizations to participate.

The governor also ordered that flags be lowered on the day of Martin’s interment, for which services are pending.

Officials said Sunday that the 22-year-old Martin and Sgt. 1st Class Ramon S. Morris of New York City died Friday when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Martin and Morris were assigned to A Company of the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
