FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Crews have begun tearing down an old school building to make way for a city new park in Fort Wayne.

Officials say more than $330,000 is being used to demolish the site of the former Franklin School. A public meeting will be held Monday night for residents who wish to comment on the preliminary designs of the park.

The final design and cost estimate of the new park are expected to be complete in the coming months. The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department plans to incorporate green space and a splash pad.
