WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - A former bouncer at a Williston strip club has pleaded not guilty to murder.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1uKnkhb) that 29-year-old Kyle Siler, of McKinleyville, California, appeared Monday in in Northwest District Court in Williston.

Siler initially was charged with the aggravated assault in the August death of Dean Niederklopfer, but the charge was upgraded to murder when Niederklopfer died from his injuries.

Siler’s lawyer said earlier that the state has “overcharged” the case.

Siler waived his right to a preliminary hearing. A trial date has not been scheduled.
