LYONS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - An outdoor fuel tank exploded early Monday in southern Lewis County, but fire crews quickly extinguished it.

The explosion happened at Lyonsdale Biomass, LLC in Lyons Falls. Fire officials say about 2,100 gallons of heating oil stored in a fuel tank outside the power plant exploded shortly before 3 a.m.

Fire crews from Port Leyden and Lyons Falls and Lewis County fire coordinators put out the blaze in two hours.

No injuries were reported and the Lewis County Fire and Emergency Management office says there’s no damage to the building.

No word on what caused the explosion.

Lyons Falls is about 40 miles north of the Utica-Rome area.
