CENTERVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A teenager has pleaded guilty to reckless driving causing death and serious injury in a northwestern Michigan crash that killed a friend and another driver.

The Grand Rapids Press reports (https://bit.ly/137Kdoa ) that the 17-year-old from Lake Leelanau entered his plea Monday in family court, but the judge has the option of sentencing him as an adult.

Leelanau County authorities have said the teen ran a stop sign Aug. 23 in Centerville Township to lift the car off the ground. The car struck a pickup truck, killing 31-year-old driver Brian Nachazel of Cedar.

A passenger in the teen’s car, 17-year-old Drake Hendershot, later died from his injuries. The teens were Maple City-Glen Lake High School football team mates.

A 16-year-old girl in the car also was injured.
