ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Asheville police have arrested a man who they say robbed the same store twice and stole more than $18,000 in cash.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (https://avlne.ws/1zXBLF1) warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office 40-year-old Guillermo Mendez Negrete of Hendersonville is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Sgt. Dave Romick said Negrete is accused of robbing a grocer on Sunday, and on Nov. 25.

Romick said the latest robbery occurred when the suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money. He said the suspect fled on foot and was found with more than $12,000 and a .22-caliber revolver used in the robbery.

Negrete is in the Buncombe County jail on a $50,000 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
