FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s police department had a busy Sunday morning on the George Washington Bridge.
Police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo says officers nabbed three people suspected of driving while under the influence within a span of 90 minutes.
At about 3:20 a.m., police say a 26-year-old Manhattan man nearly struck a wall as he approached the upper level of the bridge with his 2002 gray Toyota sedan, then failed a field sobriety test.
At 4:15 a.m., police stopped a 23-year-old Northvale, New Jersey man driving a 2008 Audi erratically westbound who said he had been drinking.
Thirty minutes later, a 37-year-old Manhattan man was arrested after his 2003 Ford van straddled two lanes on the bridge’s westbound lower level.
