COLLINS, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and his security officer were not hurt, but two people in another car were treated for minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash.

The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 49 in Collins.

A state trooper was driving Reeves in a Highway Patrol F150 pickup truck. The trooper’s name was not released.

A patrol spokesman, Lt. Johnny Poulos, says a Buick Century, driven by Francis McLaurin, was in a westbound lane and pulled into the path of the southbound pickup. He says the pickup struck the passenger side of the car.

Poulos says McLaurin and passenger Emma McLaurin, of Sumrall, were taken to Forrest General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Poulos says the crash remains under investigation.
