PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Board of Regents Executive Director and CEO Jack Warner is traveling to Washington, D.C., this week to meet with federal Education Secretary Arne Duncan and other education leaders.

The officials will discuss state-level efforts to raise K-12 education standards and assessments. Warner says the goal is to better prepare students to succeed in college and in their careers.

Warner will join education leaders from Illinois, Massachusetts, Wyoming, Idaho, Louisiana and California at Friday’s meeting with Duncan.
