GROVER, N.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded Cleveland County area.

Sheriff’s deputies tell local media outlets that the remains were found in Grover on Saturday.

A man who lives nearby told The Shelby Star that he saw what looked like a pillow and blanket at the scene.

Deputies say the remains have been sent to the Charlotte Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Sheriff Alan Norman declined to speculate on the identity of the individual.
