ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis immigrant who claimed that three black teens threatened to kill her because she is Bosnian has been charged with making a false police report.
Twenty-six-year-old Seherzada Dzanic said she was robbed on December 5 by three men who first asked about her ethnicity. Police now say a store surveillance video shows the woman leaving her car in the city’s Bevo Mill neighborhood and lying in the street before a passing motorist stopped.
She came forward several days after the death of another Bosnian immigrant whom police say was killed in a hammer attack committed by several teens.
City police subsequently summoned the FBI to investigate the woman’s attack as a possible hate crime. The city also plans to open a police substation in the neighborhood.
