PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A 23-year-old Rochester-area man has pleaded not guilty to assault charges stemming from an alleged attempted robbery that left a deputy with minor injuries.

Local media report that when Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Pittsford home early Sunday morning, Colby Reed was spotted running from the garage.

Deputies chased Reed on foot. He then got into his pickup truck and allegedly struck one of the deputies during an attempted getaway. Authorities say the deputy fired two shots at the windshield.

Reed is being held at the county jail on $500,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is slated for Thursday.

It could not immediately be determined if Reed has a lawyer.
