BRISTOL, Va. (AP) - Police say a caretaker has been charged with stealing the life savings of a Virginia woman.

The Bristol Herald Courier (https://bit.ly/12HwbK2) reports 48-year-old Michelle Ann Fields of Bristol faces 21 counts including embezzlement, obtaining property by false pretenses and forging and uttering.

Bristol Police Detective Chris Wilcox says Fields started taking care of a 73-year-old Bristol woman in 2012. The alleged thefts involve $87,000 over two years.

Wilcox says Fields allegedly wrote seven checks for “significant” amounts of money in Bristol.

Fields was released on bond from jail Friday.
