GIBBON, Neb. (AP) - One person has died and a suspect is in custody following a shooting outside a meat-packing plant in south-central Nebraska.

Buffalo County Attorney Shawn R. Eatherton says the shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of Gibbon Packing in Gibbon.

Eatherton says in a press release that the 34-year-old Grand Island man was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s deputies apprehended the suspect shortly after the shooting, and he was taken to Buffalo County Jail.

Authorities didn’t release additional information about the incident. The names of the suspect and victim were being held pending notification of the victim’s family.
