AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - A Texas Panhandle man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a robbery that led to a police shooting.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports (https://bit.ly/1wc6kpB ) a judge sentenced 30-year-old Dillon Steele to the prison term after he pleaded guilty to an aggravated robbery charge. A man called Amarillo police in August 2013 after Steele robbed him in a parking lot.

Officers shot at Steele and missed after they thought he pointed a gun at them. They later shot him with a stun gun after they said he resisted arrest.

One of the officers was hospitalized with unspecified injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
