DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A modern version of the Wright brothers’ first production airplane will be built at the Dayton site where the brothers produced their Model “B” flyers more than a century ago.

Wright “B” Flyer Inc. says it will build the lookalike airplane with support from the Experimental Aircraft Association. The final assembly will be done inside the original Wright factory. The nonprofit Wright “B” Flyer corporation displays and flies lookalikes of the brothers’ Model “B” airplanes

The new lookalike will replace the current one known as the “Brown Bird” that has been flying since 1982. It also will resemble the original Wright flyer, while meeting modern airworthiness standards.

Wilbur and Orville Wright formed the Wright Company in 1909. The factory produced approximately 120 planes before the company was sold in 1915.
