CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced a Casper businessman to one year and one day in prison for tax fraud.

Sonny Pilcher is the owner of Elevation Sports Bar and Racks Gentlemen’s Club.

He pleaded guilty in June to claiming a false bad debt expense of $258,000 on his 2008 tax return and evading employment taxes by paying some of his employees with cash.

U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Pilcher on Monday in accordance with a plea deal with prosecutors on one count of obstructing the administration of the internal revenue laws.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1qXQHkG ) that Pilcher was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and also received a year of supervised release following his prison term.
