NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a driver whose car jumped a curb near the Empire State Building last week has been arraigned on DWI and other charges.

Former attorney Stella Mednik was arraigned Monday night in Manhattan.

She and six other people, including five pedestrians, were hurt in the incident last Wednesday night in the Herald Square shopping district.

A court document says police recovered two pipes with apparent crack residue behind the driver’s seat and in a handbag on the backseat. It also says the defendant reeked of alcohol.

The charges also include assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and driving while impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol.

Her attorney did not immediately respond to a comment request.
