TROY, Ala. (AP) - Former U.S. Rep. Terry Everett has donated $1 million to Troy University’s new School of Science and Technology.

Troy officials say the donation will fund an eminent scholar faculty position beginning in the spring.

Everett says he’s been interested in science and technology since he served in the Air Force and he believes supporting science and technology is vital.

The technology building at Troy’s Dothan Campus was named in Everett’s honor last year. Everett represented southeast Alabama, including Troy and Dothan, during his 16 years in Congress.
