HOUSTON (AP) - A 17-year-old Houston mother has been sentenced to probation after her year-old daughter was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.

KHOU-TV (https://bit.ly/16pwhbn ) reports a complaint says the child in February drank the equivalent of six shots of vodka.

The mother pleaded guilty Monday to felony child endangerment and received three years of deferred adjudication probation. Her 25-year-old sister pleaded guilty to the same count and received two years of probation.

A criminal complaint says the aunt told police she let the toddler drink some of her alcoholic beverage. The women later left the child with another relative, where the youngster began vomiting.

Police say the child’s blood alcohol level was 0.268 - more than three times the adult legal limit for driving in Texas.

The girl recovered and was placed with other relatives.
